20M Aadhaar Numbers Leaked From Tamil Nadu PDS

Cyble researchers discovered a cybercrime forum post (July 1, 2021) claiming a breach of the Tamil Nadu Public Distribution System (TNPDS) that allegedly exposed 51 million records — including 20 million Aadhaar numbers and 31 million additional PII fields (names, addresses, beneficiary IDs, DOB, gender, etc.). The report highlights the sensitive nature of the data, risks of identity theft and social engineering, indexes the leak on a breach-monitoring platform, and provides basic mitigation and monitoring recommendations.
