Data Breach, DDoS Attacks Take Internet Archive Offline

The Internet Archive experienced a major security incident: attackers defaced the site via a JavaScript library, exfiltrated an authentication database containing about 31 million user credentials (a 6.4GB SQL file shared with Have I Been Pwned), and launched repeated DDoS attacks attributed to SN_BLACKMETA; Archive.org and OpenLibrary.org were taken offline while recovery and security hardening proceed.
