Serial “swatter” behind 375 violent hoaxes targeted his own home to look like a victim

This report describes a swatting and extortion spree by Alan Filion, who made numerous violent threats against schools and other targets across multiple states, at times demanding $1,000 in Monero to cease; despite an FBI search in July 2023, he continued until his January 18, 2024 arrest, subsequently pleading guilty and receiving a 48-month federal sentence.
