Google introduced a new account recovery and sign-in option that lets users record and store an encrypted video of their face to regain access or create an AI avatar; the feature must be configured in advance and is not available for Workspace, child, or Advanced Protection Program accounts. Google provides privacy disclaimers and an optional opt-in to use the video to improve its facial recognition technology.
