Vietnam Announces National Cybersecurity Firewall Plan Under New Digital Governance Law

Vietnam’s 15th National Assembly passed a 2025 Cybersecurity Law that formally introduces the concept of a national "cybersecurity firewall." Draft technical standards released by the Ministry of Public Security describe mandatory nationwide firewall infrastructure with deep packet inspection (including SSL/TLS interception), user-identity-based controls, large blacklists, detailed per-session logging, automated risk-level assessments, 12-month IP retention tied to subscriber data, domestic storage at the National Data Center, and direct technical links to the MPS for rapid data access.
