Ukraine Reports 48% Jump in Cyber Incidents in H2 2024, but 77% Drop in High-Severity Incidents

CERT‑UA's H2 2024 analysis reports a surge in Russia‑backed cyber operations—2,576 incidents—characterised by automated malware distribution and industrialised phishing, targeted attacks on energy and defense infrastructure (including coordination with kinetic strikes), supply-chain compromises leveraging known CVEs, APT cluster activity (e.g., APT28/UAC‑0001, UNC4221/UAC‑0185), and information-psychological operations that collectively threaten national services and resilience.
