Toronto Zoo Issues Final Notification on Cyberattack and Data Breach

The Toronto Zoo disclosed a January 2024 cyberattack in which personal information (names, some addresses, phone numbers, emails), limited credit card details for transactions between Jan 2022–Apr 2023, and decades of conservation research were stolen and later leaked to the dark web. The zoo notified affected employees, volunteers, donors and members, offered credit monitoring, reported the incident to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, and has worked with the City of Toronto to strengthen cybersecurity defenses.
