State Actor Made Three Attempts to Breach B.C. Government Networks

British Columbia government networks experienced three sophisticated intrusion attempts from April to May that investigators believe were conducted by a state-sponsored actor. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security and Microsoft tools were engaged; government teams are analyzing roughly 40 TB of data. No ransom demands have been received and officials say there is currently no evidence sensitive personal information was compromised, though the attacks' scale and the attackers' anti-forensic behavior are consistent with nation-state activity.
