EU and INTERPOL Hunt Black Basta Ransomware Kingpin, Suspects Identified in Ukraine

International law enforcement identified and disrupted members of the Russia-linked Black Basta ransomware group: alleged organizer Oleg Evgenievich Nefedov was placed on the EU Most Wanted list and an INTERPOL Red Notice, and two Ukrainian technical operators were identified and searched; investigators allege the group conducted widespread ransomware campaigns from 2022–2025, stealing data, encrypting systems, and extorting victims across healthcare, manufacturing, construction, and government sectors, causing damages in the hundreds of millions of euros.
