Hackers Exploit Butter Network Bridge to Mint Massive MAPO Supply

The Map Protocol (MAPO) suffered a severe exploit via the Butter Network cross-chain bridge that allowed an attacker to mint a quadrillion MAPO tokens, crash the token price, and liquidate about one billion tokens on Uniswap while draining roughly 52 ETH. Researchers identified a Solidity contract validation flaw involving a manipulated retry/oracle message; Map Protocol paused mainnet and began migration and snapshot plans while attacker-held tokens continue to pose systemic DeFi risks.
