Geisinger Healthcare Data Breach: Former Employee Exposes Over One Million Patient Records

Geisinger Healthcare disclosed that a former Nuance contractor accessed its patient database without authorization, affecting over one million patients; exposed data included names, dates of birth, addresses, medical record numbers, and contact information while financial information and Social Security numbers were not impacted. Geisinger notified affected individuals, provided a helpline and reference number, and is cooperating with law enforcement after Nuance terminated the employee’s access and the former employee was arrested and charged.
