Agencies Across Africa Arrest 574, Recover $3 Million in Cybercrime Crackdown

Operation Sentinel — an Interpol-coordinated month-long operation across 19 African countries — led to 574 arrests, approximately $3 million recovered, takedowns of over 6,000 malicious links and multiple domains, and decryption of six ransomware variants. The campaign disrupted business email compromise, digital extortion and ransomware operations affecting critical sectors (finance and energy), prevented large fraudulent transfers, and included national investigations that recovered data and arrested suspects across Senegal, Ghana, Benin and Cameroon.
