Taiwan Flags Five Major Cyber Risks After 726 Security Incidents in 2025

Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs reported 726 cybersecurity incidents in 2025, mostly low-level, and identified five priority risk trends: counterfeit messaging apps delivering backdoors, increasingly sophisticated ransomware using custom drivers to evade detection, weak supply-chain/third‑party remote access controls, social engineering, and outdated security/patch management; authorities recommend stricter software installation approval, updated endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning and patching, web application firewalls, and stronger vendor oversight.
