European Commission Launches Fresh DSA Investigation Into X Over Grok AI Risks

The European Commission has launched a formal DSA investigation into X’s Grok AI and expanded its probe of X’s recommender systems, assessing whether the company properly identified and mitigated systemic risks such as illegal content (including CSAM) and harms to users, especially minors. The case cites potential infringements of DSA Articles 34, 35, and 42, follows global pressure and U.S. inquiries into Grok’s image-generation capabilities, and could lead to interim measures, commitments, or non-compliance decisions; it also references earlier DSA proceedings that resulted in a €120 million fine against X in December 2025.
