Coupang Breach Suspect Tried to Hide Evidence by Throwing Laptop in River

Coupang disclosed an insider-caused data breach where a former employee used an internal security key to access customer records from over 33 million accounts but retained limited data from roughly 3,000 accounts and 2,609 building entrance codes; the suspect attempted to destroy evidence by smashing and discarding a laptop, which investigators later recovered, and independent forensics (with Mandiant, Palo Alto Networks, and EY) found supporting evidence and no indication that sensitive payment/login data were exposed or that data were transferred to third parties.
