AI Heads to UK Courts, Bringing New Cybersecurity and Governance Challenges

The UK government is piloting AI legal assistants for research, case analysis, scheduling, and administrative tasks across parts of the justice system, expanding the Justice Transcribe AI transcription tool for probation officers, and trialling similar technology in tribunals; these initiatives will be tested in controlled AI Growth Labs to assess performance, reliability, and compliance with legal standards with the goal of reducing administrative backlogs without replacing legal decision-making.
