Strengthening OT: The Secure Connectivity Principles for CI

Multiple national cybersecurity agencies (including the UK NCSC, US CISA and FBI, and international partners) published guidance titled “Secure Connectivity Principles for Operational Technology,” expanding on prior foundational OT cybersecurity work. The guidance outlines eight core principles—such as limiting exposure, centralizing connections, using secure protocols, hardening OT boundaries, logging/monitoring, and establishing isolation plans—to help system owners design, implement, and manage secure connectivity in modern OT environments while preserving operational needs, with follow-up installments promised to detail implementation.
