SimpliSafe’s new outdoor monitoring service combines AI with human agents

SimpliSafe introduced Active Guard Outdoor Protection, a $50/month 24/7 outdoor monitoring tier available with the new Outdoor Security Camera Series 2, which enables AI for familiar-face recognition to reduce false alarms while human agents make final decisions and can intervene (voice warnings, siren/floodlights, and notifying authorities). The $200 waterproof camera can be battery-powered or hardwired, records HD video with a 140-degree field of view and up to 15-foot detail capture, and includes two-way audio. The company says it is testing generative AI but deploying it cautiously amid growing competition in the U.S. home security market.
