More US investors sue South Korean government over handling of Coupang data breach

Coupang disclosed a multi-month data breach in which personal information for up to nearly 34 million customers was exposed; South Korean authorities say a former employee with knowledge of authentication and key management accessed the data and that the company failed to preserve logs and report promptly. The breach prompted intense government scrutiny, proposed fines and operational penalties, and U.S. investors have initiated a notice of intent to seek ISDS arbitration under the U.S.–Korea FTA, arguing discriminatory treatment.
