MoneyGram says hackers stole customers’ personal information and transaction data

MoneyGram confirmed a cyberattack on September 20 in which an unauthorized third party accessed and acquired customer personal and transaction data; stolen information reportedly includes names, phone numbers, postal and email addresses, dates of birth, national ID numbers, a limited number of Social Security numbers and government ID documents, transaction dates and amounts, and some criminal investigation information. The company is investigating, has notified U.K. regulators, experienced a week-long outage, and has not disclosed how many customers were affected.
