Hackers publish personal information stolen during Harvard, UPenn data breaches

TechCrunch reports that the hacking group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility for last year’s breaches of Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania alumni and development systems, publishing what it says are over one million records from each university. UPenn attributed the breach to social engineering and Harvard to a voice-phishing incident; published data appears to include emails, phone numbers, addresses, donation details and other alumni engagement information. The group said it published the data after the universities refused to pay extortion demands.
