Bangladeshi police agents accused of selling citizens’ personal information on Telegram

Two senior officers from Bangladesh anti-terror units (an ATU superintendent and an assistant superintendent at RAB 6) are accused of abusing privileged access to the NTMC’s National Intelligence Platform to collect and sell classified citizen data—national ID details, phone call records and other sensitive information—via Telegram channels. The NTMC audited access logs, confirmed unusual access patterns, suspended NIP access for ATU and RAB 6 users, and initiated an investigation; the alleged activity reportedly involved one or more Telegram groups attempting to monetise the data.
