CrowdStrike reports that a North Korean threat group dubbed "Famous Chollima" was responsible for roughly half of state-backed hands-on-keyboard intrusions against tech firms between April 2025 and May 2026, using deepfakes, fraudulent identities and stolen credentials to secure remote jobs, maintain persistent access, steal intellectual property and cryptocurrency (reported billions), and funnel proceeds back to the regime.
