Cisco to acquire cloud-native networking and security startup Isovalent

Cisco announced plans to acquire Isovalent, the startup behind eBPF, Cilium, and Tetragon, to bolster its cloud-native networking and security strategy by enhancing visibility and policy enforcement across containerized applications. Cilium is already the default in Google Kubernetes Engine, Google Anthos, and Amazon EKS Anywhere, and is widely adopted by major enterprises. Cisco executives emphasized continued open-source stewardship and collaboration through the CNCF and eBPF Foundation, noting prior investment in Isovalent and positioning this deal among a series of recent acquisitions, with closing expected in the company’s fiscal Q3 next year.
