Hackers stole ‘significant’ amount of data from tech firm relied on by thousands of US hospitals and pharmacies

Craneware, a U.K.-based healthcare billing software provider, disclosed a cyberattack in which hackers stole a "significant volume" of employee, customer, and partner records. The company says attackers appear to have been expelled but the investigation is ongoing; because Craneware supplies billing software used broadly across U.S. healthcare, the breach could expose large amounts of patient and health-related data and has parallels with several recent large breaches in the health tech sector.
