Trump administration admits DOGE may have misused Americans’ Social Security data

Court documents allege that two members of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) at the Social Security Administration may have accessed and potentially shared Social Security numbers and other sensitive PII with an advocacy group that sought to overturn election results; a federal judge blocked DOGE access to SSA systems and a whistleblower later alleged hundreds of millions of Social Security records were uploaded to a vulnerable cloud server.
