Paradigm Shift published details and a proof-of-concept for "usbliter8," a Boot ROM vulnerability affecting Apple A12/A13 chips (older iPhones such as XS, XR through iPhone 11). Because the flaw resides in immutable Boot ROM code it cannot be patched, and while exploitation requires physical access and additional chaining vulnerabilities to fully access user data, the public release raises the likelihood that jailbreaks or forensic extraction techniques can be developed for these devices.
