The U.S. Treasury (OFAC) sanctioned Sichuan Juxinhe for direct links to the Salt Typhoon hacking group, which U.S. officials say carried out the largest telecommunications hack in U.S. history—compromising at least nine U.S. telecom/internet providers (including AT&T and Verizon), accessing private communications and law-enforcement collection systems. OFAC also sanctioned Shanghai-based cyber actor Yin Kecheng for involvement in a December compromise of the U.S. Treasury that used a stolen BeyondTrust private key, and notes additional sanctions tied to other China-backed groups such as Flax Typhoon.
