AT&T won’t say how its customers’ data spilled online

TechCrunch reports that a dataset purporting to contain personal information for about 73 million AT&T customers — including names, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth — was dumped online. Security researcher Troy Hunt analyzed the data and found it likely authentic for many records, but AT&T maintains there are no indications its systems were compromised and the true source of the leak remains unresolved.
