Security research by Mnemonic found multiple Samsung Smart TV apps—including an Editor's Choice Pac‑Man game—contain residential proxy (resproxy) code that can turn TVs into always-on exit nodes for outsiders. The code (linked to Bright Data) can be dormant until user consent or activated remotely, enabling large-scale scraping and hiding malicious activity behind ordinary residential IPs; Samsung has moved to ban and remove apps with this functionality.
