Apple fixes bug that cops used to extract deleted chat messages from iPhones

Apple patched a bug in iPhone and iPad software that caused notification contents (including messages marked for deletion) to be retained in device storage for up to a month, enabling forensic tools—reportedly used by the FBI—to extract deleted Signal messages; Apple has released and backported a fix after the issue was reported.
