DOJ says Trenchant boss sold exploits to Russian broker capable of accessing ‘millions of computers and devices’

Former Trenchant general manager Peter Williams pleaded guilty to stealing eight zero-day hacking tools from his employer and selling them to a Russian exploit broker from 2022–2025 for over $1.3M in cryptocurrency; prosecutors say the tools could have enabled access to millions of devices worldwide, potentially facilitating state surveillance, cybercrime, and ransomware, and are seeking a lengthy prison term and large restitution.
