A suspected extortion-driven data breach exposed 7.7 TB (over 337,000 files) of LAPD-related records—personnel files, internal affairs investigations and discovery documents containing sensitive personal information—apparently obtained from a digital storage system used by the LA City Attorney's Office and posted (then removed) by the World Leaks extortion group. The LA City Attorney’s Office reported unauthorized access to a third-party application and the LAPD is investigating; World Leaks (a rebrand of Hunters International) has a documented history of targeting high-value organizations.
