Hackers could create traffic jams thanks to flaw in traffic light controller, researcher says

A Red Threat researcher found that legacy traffic controller devices (Intelight X-1) expose an internet-facing web interface with no authentication, allowing remote control of signal timing and potentially creating traffic jams; about 30 exposed devices were identified. The researcher also found exposed Econolite devices using the NTCIP protocol with writable values when internet-accessible; vendors stated the affected controllers are end-of-life and advised replacement and restricting public internet access, while Q-Free reportedly responded with legal pressure.
