FBI arrests man accused of using Steam games to drain victims’ crypto wallets

U.S. prosecutors and the FBI allege that a 21-year-old Florida man and co-conspirators distributed malware-embedded fake video games on Steam (titles included BlockBlasters, Dashverse, Lampy, Lunara, and PirateFi) that allowed attackers to steal passwords and drain cryptocurrency wallets; approximately 8,000 users were infected and at least $220,000 was stolen from about 80 wallets. The malicious games were marketed via Discord, LinkedIn, and Telegram; investigators traced cryptocurrency flows to purchases linked to the suspect, executed a search warrant, seized devices and wallets, and arrested the primary suspect.
