Hackers are extorting Globe Life with stolen customer data

Globe Life disclosed an extortion-driven data breach at its American Income Life subsidiary: an unknown actor stole customer PII — including names, addresses, phone numbers and, in some cases, Social Security numbers and health/policy data — and is attempting to extort the company while reportedly sharing some stolen information with short sellers and plaintiffs’ attorneys; about 5,000 victims are known so far and the company has notified federal law enforcement.
