A man accused of carrying out cyberattacks on behalf of the Chinese government, identified as Xu Zewei, was extradited to the United States to face charges that he worked for state-linked contractors and was part of Hafnium/Silk Typhoon operations which stole COVID-19 research from U.S. universities and exploited previously unknown Microsoft Exchange vulnerabilities to target over 60,000 entities and successfully breach more than 12,700 organizations.
