What we learned from the indictment of LockBit’s mastermind

U.S. and U.K. authorities publicly identified and charged Dmitry Yuryevich Khoroshev (aka LockBitSupp/putinkrab) as the alleged leader of LockBit, a large ransomware-as-a-service operation that since 2020 extorted roughly $500M from ~2,500 victims worldwide; the indictment and prior infrastructure seizures reveal LockBit’s affiliate model, the StealBit exfiltration tool, attacks even against Russian victims, and substantial disruption and data leaks tied to the gang.
