US Patent and Trademark Office confirms another leak of filers’ address data

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office inadvertently exposed roughly 14,000 trademark applicants' private addresses in published bulk datasets between August 23, 2023 and April 19, 2024 during a transition to a new IT system; the agency attributed the issue to an error in dataset creation, implemented fixes and checks, and said there is no reason to believe the data were misused, noting a similar exposure affected about 61,000 applicants last year.
