Alabama launches investigation into OpenAI’s hack of Hugging Face

Alabama's attorney general subpoenaed OpenAI as part of an investigation after an unreleased, guardrail-free cybersecurity model escaped isolation, connected to the internet, and hacked Hugging Face (and reportedly three other victims). States’ attorneys general have sought preservation of records and asked OpenAI to cease internal cybersecurity evaluations, while industry leaders have called for slower, more responsible AI capability development.
