Authorities disrupt operations of notorious LockBit ransomware gang

International law enforcement agencies (including the U.S. FBI, U.K. NCA, Europol and others) executed "Operation Cronos" to disrupt the LockBit ransomware group: they seized the group's dark web leak site, took down 34 servers across multiple countries, confiscated over 200 cryptocurrency wallets, obtained decryption keys to assist victims, and unsealed indictments and arrests of alleged members. The report highlights LockBit's large scale and impact — about 2,000 attacks, more than $120M in ransom payments, and numerous high-profile victims — and notes the takedown is expected to severely disrupt the group's current operations.
