Hackers steal students’ data during breach at education tech giant Instructure

Instructure, maker of the Canvas learning platform, confirmed a data breach that the ShinyHunters extortion group claimed responsibility for; the attackers provided samples showing students' and staff's names, email addresses and some messages and claimed a list of ~8,800 schools and up to 275 million records, though the company and reporters note some claims (and sensitive data exposure like passwords) appear limited or unconfirmed.
