Ecovacs says it will fix bugs that can be abused to spy on robot owners

Security researchers disclosed multiple vulnerabilities in Ecovacs consumer robots and the companion app, notably a Bluetooth flaw enabling remote pairing and control (reported range ~450 ft) that could be used to remotely surveil owners via the devices' cameras/microphones, plus a bug allowing former owners to regain access after a device is sold. Ecovacs initially downplayed the findings but subsequently said it will patch two models (Goat G1, X1) and update the app after reviewing the researchers' disclosures and Def Con presentation.
