Texas-based care provider HMG Healthcare says hackers stole unencrypted patient data

HMG Healthcare disclosed that hackers accessed an unencrypted server in August containing sensitive information for patients, employees, and dependents — including names, dates of birth, contact details, Social Security numbers, employment records, and medical information. The breach was discovered in November, the organization says about 75,000 Texas residents were impacted, and HMG was unable to determine exactly which data were stolen or whether a ransom was paid.
