Politician who investigated spyware abuses had his phone hacked with Pegasus spyware

Citizen Lab confirmed that Greek MEP and former journalist Stelios Kouloglou was targeted and hacked with Pegasus spyware in Oct 2022 and March 2023 using a zero-click exploit in Apple’s iPhone smart-home software. The compromises allowed theft of texts, location data, photos and ambient audio, coincided with his work on the European Parliament’s PEGA committee investigating spyware abuses, and reused a Pegasus-linked attacking email seen in earlier campaigns—implying an authorized government customer of NSO Group though no specific country was attributed.
