Google adds live threat detection and screen-sharing protection to Android

Google announced new Android protections at I/O 2024, including on-device live threat detection via Play Protect (using Private Compute Core), expanded restricted settings for sideloaded and other apps, default OTP hiding in Android 15, privacy safeguards during screen sharing (with per-app sharing), and alerts about unencrypted cellular networks and potential cell site simulators; these defenses will roll out across multiple OEMs later this year.
