US seizes alleged China-linked sites targeting security clearance holders

The DOJ and FBI seized 13 websites tied to an alleged Chinese intelligence recruitment campaign that used sham consulting firms and online job postings to target current and former U.S. officials and military personnel for research and insider information; operators relied on fake personas, stolen identities, AI-generated photos, encrypted messaging apps, cryptocurrency and freelance/job platforms to facilitate outreach and payments.
