Senator says AT&T and Verizon blocked release of Salt Typhoon security reports

Sen. Maria Cantwell alleges that AT&T and Verizon prevented Google-owned Mandiant from sharing network security assessments about Salt Typhoon — a Chinese cyber collective that infiltrated telecom networks and compromised lawful-intercept systems — with Congress. The incident, described as a major intelligence breach affecting over 80 countries and some 600 organizations and reportedly enabling targeting of senior officials' calls, prompted Cantwell to seek testimony from the carriers' CEOs.
