Major U.S. telecommunications companies (including AT&T, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Lumen, T-Mobile, Verizon and Zayo) have formed the Communications Cybersecurity Information Sharing and Analysis Center (C2 ISAC) in response to a sweeping, ongoing Chinese-linked hacking campaign dubbed Salt Typhoon that has, since at least 2019, compromised multiple telecom providers and breached lawful intercept and surveillance systems worldwide; the ISAC aims to share real-time intelligence and coordinate defenses against persistent threats to communications networks.
