Cyber takes back seat to immigration in global threats hearing

A House Homeland Security Committee hearing featured DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, NCTC Director Joe Kent, and FBI NSB’s Michael Glasheen discussing key cyber threats: terrorist proxy groups’ use of encrypted messaging and online propaganda, China’s continued position as the most significant cyber threat, the criticality of intelligence-sharing authorities, and DHS/CISA/Coast Guard roles in safeguarding undersea cables. While immigration dominated the broader session, ICE is also leveraging DHS pipelines to recruit cybersecurity and tech talent.
